autos.is is an Icelandic automotive marketplace operated by Autos.is, based in Reykjavík, Iceland. We are the controller of the personal data collected through the site. If you have any privacy question or request, contact us and we will respond as required by law.

Account data: your name or username, email address and password (stored only as a secure hash) when you sign up.

Listing data: the vehicle information, photos and contact details you publish, plus listing performance statistics such as view counts.

Payment data: when you buy a listing fee, an upgrade or a dealer plan, our payment provider processes your card details. We store only the payment reference, the amount and the resulting invoice. Invoice data includes your name, email address and the item purchased.

Messages and enquiries: messages you send to sellers or to us through the site.

Usage data: technical data such as IP address, browser type and pages visited, used to keep the site secure and to understand traffic. We may use cookies and similar technologies for sign-in sessions, saved favourites and traffic measurement.

We process your data to provide the marketplace and your account (performance of a contract), to send invoices and payment receipts (legal obligation to keep accounting records), to send service notifications such as confirmations and payment emails (legitimate interest), and, only with your consent, to send optional marketing emails such as saved-search alerts, which you can unsubscribe from at any time.

Your listing content and the contact details you publish are visible to anyone who visits the site. We share the minimum necessary data with service providers who help us run autos.is: our hosting and database provider, our payment processor, and our email delivery provider. These providers process data on our behalf and are bound by data protection agreements.

We never sell your personal data. We may disclose data where required by Icelandic law or a valid authority request.

Account and listing data are kept while your account is active. Accounting records, including invoices, are kept for the period required by Icelandic bookkeeping law. Data connected to a reported fraud or abuse case may be kept as long as needed to handle it.

You can access, correct or delete your personal data, object to or restrict certain processing, and export your data. You can change your listing and account details directly on the site, or contact us to exercise any right. You may also complain to the Icelandic Data Protection Authority (Persónuvernd).

Deleting your account removes your personal data from the live site, except data we must keep for accounting or legal reasons.

We protect your data with encrypted connections, hashed passwords, role-based access controls and regular security reviews. No system is perfectly secure, but we treat protecting your data as a core responsibility of running the marketplace.
