Used Tesla Model Y vs. Kia EV6: which holds value better in Iceland?
Two of the most-shopped used EVs on the island, compared on price, depreciation, and Icelandic real-world range.

Both the Tesla Model Y and the Kia EV6 have been bestsellers in Iceland since 2022. The used market is now deep enough that you can directly compare them on price-per-km and resale.
Price snapshot (December 2025)
- 2022 Model Y Long Range, ~40 000 km: typically 7.5–8.5 million ISK
- 2022 EV6 GT-Line RWD, ~40 000 km: typically 6.9–7.8 million ISK
Depreciation
The Model Y depreciated harder in 2023–2024 because of Tesla's aggressive new-price cuts. The curve has flattened. The EV6 has been steadier but is now slipping as the EV9 and new generation EV6 land.
Real-world Icelandic range
| WLTP | Reykjavík winter | Summer south coast | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Model Y LR | 533 km | ~370 km | ~480 km |
| EV6 RWD 77 kWh | 528 km | ~360 km | ~470 km |
Verdict
If you value the Supercharger network and minimalist interior, the Model Y is hard to beat. If you want a more conventional cabin, faster 800V charging, and a slightly more comfortable ride on rough roads, the EV6 wins. Both are excellent buys at current used prices.
